What stood out today: v3 Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. v9 She is really your wife! Why did you say, She is my sister? v29 And now you are blessed by the Lord. v27:10 Then take it to your father to eat, so that he may give you his blessing before he dies. v33 Isaac trembled violently… I blessed him and indeed he will be blessed.
My response: God, you told Isaac you would be with him and “l bless him” and you did. You tell us you will never leave us nor forsake us, and you do. Yet Isaac and we fear people more than we fear you. Father, I am sorry…I have no reason to doubt you. Rebekah, Isaac and Jacob valued your blessing. They realized your blessing as the most prized possession. Father, I sense your pleasure in Abraham in 26:5, because Abraham “obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees, and my laws.”
Lord Jesus, I sense a fear of displeasing you. You who are so gracious, kind, loving. “Take my life and let it be, Holy, consecrated, Lord to thee. Take my hands and let them move, at the impulse of thy love.” May I be about what pleases you more than what pleases me. May I believe in even more practical ways that you are God and you are good…Yes, very good.
