Genesis 43 - 47

What stood out today: v43:14 And may God Almighty grant you mercy…As for me, if I am bereaved, I am bereaved. v23 It’s all right. Don’t be afraid. Your God, the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks. v45:7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So then it was not you who sent me here, but God. v24 As they were leaving he said to them, “Don’t quarrel on the way!” v46:1 I will go down to Egypt with you. v47:31 And Israel worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.

My response: God, what an incredible story. And yet it seems so real and believable, thank you for your grace to believe. I love how you orchestrate the events of the lives of Jacob, Joseph, Pharaoh, and the brothers. I love how Israel surrenders to your “If I am bereaved, I am bereaved.” He entrusts his feelings to you. God, with you there is always a happy ending. We yearn for the stories that end and they lived happily ever after. But for now we are truly living in an epic adventure. There is certainly nothing boring about you, Jesus. May I look back at my life and look forward and, like Israel, lean on my staff and worship. Yes, may I worship you with my whole heart, my whole being.
