Genesis Review

Jesus, thank you for loving me by laying down your life, paying for my sin. That I could stand before you naked and feel no shame. That we could spend eternity in heaven, a place of perfect Shalom. A place where shame is not known or even remembered. 12/31 – These are all reasons to fear you. But it’s a strange kind of fear; it’s a warm fear, a fear that is somehow – comfortable, inviting. A fear that attracts not repels. 12/29 – Rick, remember, you are a star, one of the offspring of Abraham. Not a shooting star, a star that shines forever. Father God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, may that star bring you great glory and great pleasure. 1/11 – Father God, you are in control and I can rest. You are good, I can be at peace. Jesus, you are alive and a risen presence in me. You are the LIFE that I can live.

God, thank you for this time in Genesis. Thank you for teaching me more about “fearing” you. Thank you for reminding me how involved you are, how much you see, how much you orchestrate. It is strange, God, that as I fear you a strange peace settles over me. You say in 1John 4:18, “Perfect love drives out fear.” You, God, are perfect love and you are my God, my lover, my saviour, my life, my glory, my all in all.
